Summary

Here are my 3 ways on how to cope with before, during and after the emergency stress:

Before: Prepare yourself before facing challenges. For example: learning the skills and knowledge in handling ill patients, and knowledge in communicating with surrounding people during the situation. Only by well prepared yourself, you are able to cope with the challenges that throw to you any time. I always involved myself in palliative care. And people surrounding me always ask me this question, why I trouble myself to learn all this? My answer is simple! This is to prepare myself if I face this challenges unfortunately.

During: Be calm in reacting in the situation is the key.Calm yourself down, and figure it out what are the alternatives ways that I have to settle this situation.Your respond towards the situation will determine the outcome or at least the your surrounding environment. After you clam yourself down, you might start to realize that all the incidents that happened, happen for us. There must be a reason behind. Supportive friend or family member or relative will definitely give great support to us physically and mentally. I am grateful to have a few supportive friends and relatives to help me. They gave great support to me through their knowledge and skills.

After: Review and follow up with the incidents. Ask yourself what can you do differently, so that the situation can be better. We definitely can learn something from our experience. Sit down and reflect what have you done correctly and what can be further improve.
